B-girl Lucile visits SoCal - March 25, 2013

It's been awhile since I last posted... I've seriously been scrambling around with this boost of energy to find my spark again. It was a rough year for me last year due to some health conditions, car drama, and a recent transition into my commute from OC to LA.

I'm excited to say that despite of all of that, my passion and drive is still in me. I've been simultaneously juggling several projects along with my full time gig at the LA Times Community News(papers) and I can't wait to share it with you all in the upcoming months. I'll be posting portraits and audio interviews of more b-girls that I've shot and interviewed this past year. I'll also post recent work from some of my favorite daily assignments as well.

So to kick off this post, I hope you will enjoy these photos of French b-girl Lucile who visited earlier this year. If you haven't seen my posts from last year, Lucile was one of the first b-girls I shot and interviewed when I started my project. I've decided to continue this long term project with local b-girls here in SoCal. With a predominantly male-dominated scene, we can't forget about the females who are also a part of it. I hope that people will understand, embrace and respect the dance that I've captured through my photos and audio interviews, which sadly is often misunderstood in mainstream hip hop.

Here are my favorite shots of Lucile:
